Nsukka Youths General Assembly Leaders meets with Petroleum Dealers Association Nsukka Branch Proffers Solutions.

Nsukka Youths General Assembly and the Petroleum Dealers Association, Nsukka Branch held meeting yesterday 1st November, 2022 at KITECH Petroleum Nig. LTD Opposite St. Teresa's College Nsukka.



Following the Protest Letter published by the Leadership of Nsukka Youths General Assembly led by Comr. Roy Ekwueme outlining the harsh economic development the hike in Fuel Price in Nsukka has brought to the poor masses the leadership of  Petroleum Dealers Association Nsukka Branch led by Nze Emma Nwa Nze summon a meeting to address the content of the said letter and to hear from the Leadership of Nsukka Youths General Assembly why such social media move should be taken.



In the said meeting, The Chairman of the Petroleum Dealers Association Nsukka Branch Nze Emma Nwa Eze welcomed the President of Nsukka Youths General Assembly Comr. Roy Ekwueme who was accompanied by the Secretary General Comr. Ezugwu Godfirst, the National Publicity Secretary Comr. Omeje Onyekachi Callistus who doubled as the President of Nsukka Town Youths Association and Mr. Ibe, Member of Nsukka Youths General Assembly.



In his speech, Nze Emma Nwa Eze narrated the challenges faced by the Petroleum Dealers Association Nsukka Branch and the resolve of the Branch to go on Strike even before the Letter of Protest was published.


The Chairman of the Union  centered on the bad state of Opi-9th Mile road which has cost her members Millions of Naira as lose and alternative route ikem-nkalagu road has been cut off.


He furthered that the last ugly incident was that of  NOPIC Tanker that got burnt on that Opi-9thMile Road stressing that the  consequence of truck roll back cannot be overemphasized.  In order to avoid the bad road many truck have started avoiding the road and so many trucks having their destination as Nsukka are still trapped inside Enugu metropolis. He likened Nsukka Experience to Kogi Experience.


Nze Emma Nwa Eze made us to understand that an alternative road was discovered by PEDAN Nsukka Branch through 9thmile to Ohum to Umurumgbe to Ukehe to  Ekwegbe but can only be accessed by Petrol trucks with high horsepower.




Other Members of PEDAN that spoke during the meeting include the CEO Mekilo Oil and Gas; Hon. Onah Emeka Christopher and  CEO Nwa God Filling station who outlined the challenges they are facing in the oil and gas business in Nsukka in this dispensation of bad road.



Comr. Roy Ekwueme who addressed the organisation noted that the hardship caused by the high price of petroleum in Nsukka to the pauper is becoming increasingly too much, hence, the Public Protest by Nsukka Youths General Assembly.


Solutions were proffered on the best way to ameliorate the situation such as:

1. Collaboration between PEDAN Nsukka branch and the government of ENUGU state to find a working solution especially now that Christmas season is approaching.

2. No shutting down of fuel stations in Nsukka.

3. Reduction of pump price as soon government negotiation commences























Note. Enugu state Government is about to commence work on Enugu-Nkalagu-Ikem-Obollo road


It was indeed a successful delibration with the PEDAN.
