WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE GRAND RECEPTION OF THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF NSUKKA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA HON. BARR. DR. WALTER OZIOKO (OKWULORA NA-EMERUORA) BY NSUKKA TOWN UNION.
On Sunday the 18th day of December, 2022 at Ugwuorie Primary School Field, the good people of Nsukka Town (Isi Aya n'tegna) under the auspices of Nsukka Town Union gathered to welcome one of her illustrous sons Hon. Barr. Dr. Walter Ozioko, the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area.
It was indeed an event worthwhile as the Asphalt Mayor of the City whose developmental strand in all ramifications within the space of 9 months in office has shown the spirit of a *"Philanthropist in Politics"* as he has utilized the resources within his purview to develop Nsukka.
In the occasion, the President General of Nsukka Town Union *Chief Joseph Ohe Onyeke* welcomed all that graced the event and appreciated God for the gift of the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area Hon. Barr. Dr. Walter Ozioko at a time like this.
He noted that the coming of Walter Ozioko is timely and a square peg in a square hole as he has filled the gap created by the death of Late Hon. Chief Patrick Omeje (Okaigbo n'Igbo).
The President General further intimated the mammoth crowd that gathered at Ugwuorie Primary School Field of the developments that the city mayor have attracted since his inception of office that deserves the warm welcome by Nsukka Town Union such as: the Completion of the Skill Acquisition Center and Nsukka Legislative Complex at the L.G.A Council, Asphalting of Slaughter Road/Amukwa/Cold Room Link Road, Grading of Ugwu every every, Ogige Furniture Link Road, Kpokpo Owerre ani, Ugwuechara and Chidubem Hospital Road, Revamping of Nsukka Local Government Security Outfit, partnering with the University of Nigeria Nsukka Human Capital and Community Development Unit.
The President General of Nsukka Town Union didn't hesitate to reiterate the promise made by Late Chief Patrick Omeje Jnr. to the Union to provide 200 plastic seats before death took him away. He implored the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area to kindly look into it and fulfil the promise as Government is a continuum.
The event witnessed the presence of who is who from Nsukka Town and beyond.
Speakers from our dear Town garnished the event with much applause to the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area and his litany of developmental projects in Nsukka Town were outlined and he was asked to keep up with his good work.
The President of Nsukka Youths Association, Comr. Omeje Onyekachi Callistus who spoke in tandem with the President General of Nsukka Town Union as the Youth Wing of the Town appreciated God for the gift of Hon. Barr. Dr. Walter Ozioko, a man whose coming as the Executive Chairman of Local Government Area has attracted much development to Town. He narrated how the chairman is consolidating on the Opi Nsukka/Enugu Road being Constructed by the Executive Governor of Enugu State Rt. Hon. Dr. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and constructing Slaughter, Amukwa/Cold Room Road that links the Enugu Road which shall ease movement within Nsukka Town.
He reiterated the engagement of Nsukka Town Youths in the activities of his administration. In his words *"for a system to be representative, all parts of the system must be included and Nsukka Youths Association have been included in the activities of Nsukka Town Union and Nsukka Local Government Area"* which have been a catalyst to youth participation in ensuring good governance in the local government and beyond.
The President of the Youth noted that Nsukka Town which is made up of 9 Autonomous communities have the youths of the autonomous communities duly represented in the program of the association such as the youths from Nguru, Isiakpu, Echara, Umakashi, Iheagu, Ezema n'edem, Umuoyo, Ihe and Owerre and 120+ villages emanating from the communities.
He noted that where the Executive Chairman of the local government who is our own directs us to follow we shall follow as he has set a precedence worthy of emulation.
The likes of the Pioneer President of Nsukka Youths Association who doubles as the Chairman of the Occasion and a reputable business tycoon in the transportation industry cum education, *Chief Dr. Sam. Maduka Onyishi* who addressed the crowd through his Representative, Hon. Festus Onogwu appreciated God for the gift of Hon.Barr. Walter Ozioko.
He furthered that Nsukka Local Government is blessed to have a man who utilizes his business acumen in transportation industry (CEO Chubuikem Motors) to lead the local government and have positioned Nsukka Local Government in the world map as a Chairman who Asphalts Road not considering the current economic meltdown.
Others who spoke at the occasion include Hon. Mrs. Vivian Eze, Rt. Hon. Dr. Celestine Ogbu (Celon), Hon. Amos Amadi Agbo who is the PDP candidate for Nsukka West Constituency, Enugu State House of Assembly and from the Host Town, Nsukka Town - Isi Aya n'tegna.
In His response to the accolades poured to him and the warm reception from Nsukka Town, the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area Hon. Barr. Dr. Walter Ozioko (Okwulora na-emeruora) appreciated the good people of Nsukka Town for the grand reception and the regards the Town Union have for his office as the number one citizen of the local government.
He reiterated his resolve to continue to bring down to the local the dividend of democracy as taught him by his boss RT. Hon. Dr. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu state and the PDP candidate for Senate, Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
The Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area who was overwhelmed by the reception and following the speeches from well meaning Individuals of Nsukka Town accompanied with his lovely wife reiterated his resolve to continue to champion good governance as thought him by his Post and for the fact that the good people of Nsukka Town believed in him and have resolved to follow his lead he therefore requested all Nsukka Town Union members and Nsukka Local Government Area under his watch to key in behind him to elect All the PDP candidates ranging from the Governorship candidate Barr. Dr. Peter Mbah and his deputy Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai down to House of Assembly members Nsukka East and West Constituency especially Hon. Amos Amadi Agbo who is our own son from Nsukka Town.
The Executive Governor of Enugu State Rt Hon. Dr. Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who was present in the occasion appreciated Nsukka Town Union for the warm reception given to the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area who is one of the Local Government Chairmen in Enugu State and the warm welcome extended to Him also.
He appreciated the people of Nsukka Town for believing in his Government through the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government and the resolve to elect all the PDP candidates in ENUGU STATE by the people of Nsukka Town come 2023.
Top on the program is the presentation of a gigantic cow to the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government by Nsukka Town Union with an Award.

Hon. Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Barr. Peter Chigozie Okonkwo (Ohamadike), the PDP candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, Chief Engr. It was indeed a GRAND RECEPTION as the Committee for the occasion led by Chief Martins Ezebuilo with secretary Hon. Uche Eze did marvelously well to see to the well organized event.
MC ELDER mastered the event where as Jeimije Group of Bands did justice to the melodic sounds. Other cultural groups such as Ogene, Ejionu masquerades were present to give flavour to the event.
